Bryan Turner Kitchen Furniture and Contemporary British Furniture Design
Bryan Turner Kitchen Furniture has built its reputation over 35 years producing traditionally built kitchen furniture. Our time served craftsmen use traditional cabinet making skills in everything we produce; you could say it’s in our DNA.
As a truly bespoke furniture manufacturer we are often asked to produce contemporary designs, European and linear, cool and clean lines and our experienced designers are able to work in all disciplines to create beautiful, well balanced designs.
The common thread is that every piece of furniture we build has at its heart traditional cabinet making skills. So for example, whilst the exterior may be cool and contemporary in sophisticated matt or gloss painted finishes and stunning solid woods, when you open the doors and drawers you will find our solid walnut or solid oak drawer boxes with our trademark hand cut dove tail joints and effortless soft close systems.
This gives our furniture a level of luxury, craftsmanship and timelessness often lacking in contemporary furniture construction.
This bedroom and study shows clearly how we are able to effortlessly mix the Contemporary and Traditional to create a luxurious yet simple and practical piece of furniture.
So whether you are looking for traditional or contemporary design please don’t hesitate to contact us on 01953 601 567 to see how we can help with your project.

Case study of a Traditional Bespoke Kitchen in a Victorian House by Bryan Turner Kitchen Furniture
We would consider this kitchen to be in the Creative area of our work; a traditional and classical kitchen but with a creative twist. The shaped island complements the very formal furniture to create a warm and intelligent working space.
The colours are very subtle; the greys and creams create a very cool & calm space and the overall effect is an elegant yet striking room.

The English Glasshouse and Bryan Turner Kitchen Furniture win Gold at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2012
So all the hardwork, long hours, preparation and effort proved a spectacular success with the The English Glasshouse Orangery and the Bryan Turner Kitchen being awarded a "Certificate of Merit" for "Outstanding Presentation" – the Trade Stand equivalent of a Chelsea Gold Medal
The week was a great success and the fact the sun shone everyday made it even more magical although it seems like a distant memory now!
A big thank you to all of our customers who came to see us and enjoyed a glass of wine on the terrace, it was lovely to see so many familiar faces.
If you didn’t make it this year here are some of the highlights…
The concept of the room was to show that an Orangery can be so much more than just an ‘occasional’ room but can actually create an amazing living space
This concept was delivered so skillfully by Interior Designer Sarah Buxton of Essential Ambience who proved the value of an Interior Designer to really pull together the ideas, colours, textures and materials throughout the rooms to create the maximum ‘wow’ factor
The scheme was developed from an RHS Orginal Botanical Print and the colours were picked out through the Orangery, nowhere with more effect than on the Kitchen Island which was painted a vibrant Pink (Mischief by the Little Greene Paint Company) which received many compliments
The other aim of the collaboration was to show that by considering all of the elements of a building from an early stage the results are always better. By working together with the Architect, the Kitchen and Garden Designers means that truly great design develops
The Garden Designers at Deakin Lock created a stunning garden for us which worked perfectly in the space and gave the stand a feel of a Show Garden. All week visitors were photographing the stand and it was very rewarding to see peoples genuine appreciation for the work that had gone into every aspect of the design
It was very humbling to see the Chelsea Pensioners throughout the week, a constant reminder that this is their home 1st and a flower show 2nd! One of the charities we actively support is Help For Heroes so we felt great pride and it was amazing to see so many of them on Diamuird Gavins spectacular garden on Press Day.
____
The Orangery was built to the highest standards and was not built as a temporary structure. Because the site returns to fields just a week after the show closes the design was many months in the planning stages but what was created could stand for 50 years, yet within a week the orangery was dismantled, the kitchen returned to our workshops and the plants sold to eager buyers on the last day of the show.
One thing that impressed the judges was the sheer quality of the design, construction and the fittings. This was not accidental, throughout the planning we all committed to deliver at Chelsea exactly the same quality of design and service we give our customers on a daily basis.
Handbuilt bespoke kitchen furniture, the working AGA, the fridge and wine cooler, the boiling water on tap from the Quooker and running water from the stunning Kohler Tap added to the sense that every detail had been carefully considered.
White Cararra Honed Marble by HL Perfitt Ltd looked stunning against the rich pink of the island and ‘Black Forest’ granite on the outer kitchen cupboards gave an elegant sophisticated look against The Little Greene Paint company French Grey cupboards
Aga chose to launch the new App for the Aga Total Control at Chelsea this year and it turned out to be the perfect week to demonstrate the benefits of this latest iconic model
With the tempartures outside up in the 80′s it was fantastic to show people how easily the new AGA can be turned on and off and the App received a lot of attention too
We also included an Aga Fridge Freezer and an Aga Wine Fridge which certaily surprised many people. All the Aga products are built to the high standards and quaility you would expect and the create a very unified, finished feel to the kitchen
Our lovely friend Galton Blackiston, Michelin Starred Chef and owner of Morston Hall in Norfolk came and cooked for us on Press Day and the food was simply sublime. Using the Aga he prepared incredible Scrambled Eggs, delicious breads and the most unbelievable Micro Breakfast
We had a host of celebrity visitors throughout the morning who came to look around and enjoy the food, admire the Orangery and the Kitchen as well as the Michelin starred hospitality and the stand was buzzing throughout the day.
Throughout the day we were joined by many lovely guests …

Case study of a Contemporary Bespoke Kitchen in a Red-Brick Barn Conversion by Bryan Turner Kitchen Furniture
Our work usually falls into three main categories; Traditional, Creative and Architectural
We define the Creative work as being designed along traditional lines but with a modern twist or detail and this kitchen is a good example of this area of work.
The brief was for a traditionally built kitchen with a contemporary feel and the entire interior of the property contrasts with the building which is a traditional red brick barn conversion.
The kitchen is built using our traditional in-frame method, with solid wooden drawer boxes featuring the latest soft close drawer systems, doors with our unique arrangement of concealed magnets and soft-closers.
Our hand-cut dovetail joints and hand painted cupboards highlight the quality of the workmanship and it has been designed in striking Black American Walnut and mixed with Farrow & Ball colours.
The Silestone Worktops give a crisp feel against the walnut and the Mercury Range Cooker, the Fisher & Paykel Fridge drawers and the Liebherr Wine Fridge all help create a great living and working space for people who love cooking and entertaining.

Bryan Turner Kitchen Furniture and The English Glasshouse to exhibit at the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2012
Working with the prestigious bespoke Orangery and Glasshouse manufacturer The English Glasshouse we are proud to be presenting a working Bryan Turner kitchen at the world renowned RHS Chelsea Flower Show from Tuesday 22nd to Saturday 26th May 2012.
The kitchen will include a fully working Total Control AGA to showcase how the very latest technology sits effortlessly alongside our hand-built bespoke kitchen; built using time honoured skills, methods and craftsmanship.
The landscaped space has been designed by garden experts Deakin Lock to reflect a space for people who like to cook and enjoy eating outdoors.
It is an outside living space designed to be an extension of the home and to work seamlessly with orangery life. The exhibit will showcase the very best in modern family living.
A joy to live with, aesthetically pleasing and crafted with modern family life in mind, the kitchen, garden and the orangery have a quiet authority and are designed to bring pleasure from the practical.
The garden will feature plants with architectural interest, such as Agapanthus and Arum Lilies. These will be blended with more textural planting to give softness and a sense of enclosure. Other plants featured will include Verbena bon Ariensis and grasses such as Stipa.
The colour palette is relatively simple to ensure a sense of calm and optimum use of space. The orangery will be built from FSC-approved timber and will showcase conservation-style sliding sash windows and a clerestory with gothic-style glazing.
The more contemporary kitchen area features large bi-fold doors which open on to the stunning garden.

Bryan Turner Kitchens make space for Emma Bridgewater’s Polka Dot Gallon Teapot
When we design we always look to design the room and not just the kitchen and it is always vital to us to ensure the kitchen will fit your property perfectly.
Whilst kitchen design is often about creating the wow factor we also want a kitchen that works perfectly day to day; we want everything in the kitchen to be in the right place to make it a pleasure to live and work in.
Having just done a photo-shoot for our new advertising campaign we took the opportunity to capture some shots showing the smaller details that make up our kitchens including finding a home for that huge Emma Bridgewater Teapot!

Bryan Turner Kitchens & Galton Blackiston make a Fine Accompaniment
Bryan Turner is proud to be a business partner to Galton Blackiston. Apart from their obvious and natural affinity for all things culinary, both the kitchen designer/furniture maker and the Michelin-starred chef have an unwavering determination for achieving the highest possible standards, being sticklers for details, and being individual in everything they do.

Since then, Bryan Turner Kitchen Furniture has designed and handmade furniture for several rooms in Galton and Tracey’s home, and is currently designing wardrobes for their son’s bedroom. Bryan has also created bedroom and occasional furniture for several principle rooms in Morston Hall, and for all of the new Pavilion rooms in the annex.
Bryan Turner Kitchen Furniture employs time-served cabinet makers, craftsmen, designers and operations staff in Norfolk, serving customers throughout the UK. The team share a passion for handcrafting bespoke furniture of excellence in both quality and design. Part of their philosophy is that proportion and details are paramount to perfection, so even the subtlest of design elements are deliberately handcrafted to the most exacting standards.

"It’s all about the details" says Bryan Turner, Founder and Director of Bryan Turner Kitchen Furniture. “The size of rails, the positioning of handles, the fine details of mouldings and turnings make a huge difference to the finished overall proportions that make furniture look right. We’re genuinely passionate about what we do. It’s not just a job.”
Attention to detail and quality of craftsmanship sees Bryan Turner Kitchen Furniture frequently featured in magazines such as Period Living and Beautiful Kitchens, and the company is fast becoming known for its creativity of design. Whether complementing extraordinary surroundings or providing continuity to an architect’s vision, the design team is creating sophisticated, architecturally sensitive spaces.

“While function is vital to every kitchen we design, we carefully consider client needs, surroundings and lifestyles from the outset,” explains Bryan. “Similar to how an architect fulfils their vision, our job is to work with the potential space, combined with composition, materials, colour and texture elements to create balanced, beautifully proportioned furniture that really works for our customers.”
For example, this kitchen (featured below) was designed to draw attention to scenery outside: the brief was to make the most of the view across the garden from the room’s bay window. Shaping the island to mirror the curve of the bay, seating and a window-facing prep area on the island all create a clear focal point – the garden view. At the same time, function and style are not compromised, with the result exceeding the customer’s expectations.
